| Christine Wooley earned her B.A. from Amherst College in English and Women’s and Gender Studies and her M.A. and Ph.D. (both in English) from the University of Washington. At the UW, she studied nineteenth- and early twentieth-century American and African-American literatures. Currently, she is working on a book, tentatively titled Quantifying Sympathy, that focuses on how sympathy is conceptualized by late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century African-American writers whose works struggle to address political and ethical concerns through literary forms. Christine has taught courses on race passing, the American gothic, and the attention to sympathy in nineteenth-century American and African-American literature. She likes to cook, tries to make it to yoga once a week, and loves to bring her dog Lucy to class. |
