Before joining the faculty at St. Mary's, Michael Cain taught Political Science at the University of Mississippi, the University of Warsaw and the University of Maryland.  His main areas of teaching include Political Theory and East European Politics.  You can find out more information about his professional background, the courses he teaches in the political science department or his research interests, by clicking above on the page links.

Our Teaching Philosophy

At St. Mary's we believe that learning involves frequent exchanges of ideas between students and faculty.  This goal can be achieved only through effective communication. Students should speak with Michael as much as possible about their interests in politics, the courses they are taking, and their ideas about contemporary politics. You can do this during his regular office hours, in lunch meetings throughout the week, during a friendly afternoon coffee at the new student center or through e-mail messages at night or the weekends. Whatever way is most comfortable or convenient, always feel free to share your thoughts with him.
