Intermediate Microeconomcs (ECON 252)

 

Course description:

1.  This is a course of microeconomics at the intermediate level. We will cover the standard
     contents such as the theory of consumption, theory of production, different types of
     market structures, general equilibrium, welfare economics, and other related topics.
     Students will get a general idea as how to use basic microeconomic tools to deal with
     microeconomic problems

2.  Pre-requisite: Introduction to Economics

3.  Textbooks: "Microeconomics, Theory and Applications," eighth edition, and
     "Microeconomic Problems" by Mansfield, W.W. Norton & Company, Inc., 1990.

4.  Lectures:  Tuesday and Thursday, 6:00 - 7:50PM

5.  Office Hours:  T&R: 3:30 - 4:30PM. Special appointments can be made if my office
     hours are inconvenient for you.

6.  Examinations:  There will be altogether two examinations with each contributing 40% to
     the final grade. Approximately weekly home work will be assigned and collected to help
     you to prepare for these tests.

7.  Attendance:  Attendance and participation in class contribute 20% to the finally grade.
     More specifically, for every class missed beyond three 1% will be deducted from the
     final grade.
