What is the right pixel dimension for an image to be viewed on the web? Most of the time we do not want viewers to have to scroll to see the entire image. Because some laptops have screens that measures 1024 pixels wide x 768 pixels tall and because most viewers have top and side menu bars open in their browser window, it is a good rule of thumb to keep images no bigger than 600 pixels in either direction. Often web designers use images that are smaller so pages don't take more time to download (bigger images take longer). Below you can see how big these two sizes will look on the web.
