Barrett:

· What is the difference between subject matter and meaning?

· Define the four elements of a work of art that contribute to its meaning including any sub-categories.

Buster:

· According to Buster meaning of a work of art doesn’t “reside comfortably in a work’s narrative imagery” it is ‘informed” by a number of conditions that surround it and that ‘signification’ is created by a “complex web of operations.” List all the conditions that Buster names that can shape the meaning of an artwork.
