Research Director of The First Measured Century

From May 1998 to December 2000, I was the Research Director of a large project called The First Measured Century. FMC tells the story of America in the 20th century through the lens of data. FMC has four big parts:

(1) A PBS documentary that aired nation-wide on December 20, 2000. This 3-hour documentary was produced by New River Media.

(2) A 308-page book published by AEI Press. You can buy the book at Amazon or Barnes and Noble.

My co-authors: Theodore Caplow and Ben J. Wattenberg.

(3) A "content-rich" website being hosted by PBS.

(4) A partial replication of Middletown IV, the latest in a series of sociological investigations of Muncie, Indiana.
