Bangkok

We arrived in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, spent three days receiving lessons on Thai language, visiting local sites and enjoying Thai cuisine.

Webster Orientation
We travelled to Hua Hin, three hours south of Bangkok, to participate in workshops on Engaged Buddhism. Webster University's Ted Mayer graciously hosted the group and introduced us to the network of Engaged Buddhism in Thailand.

Pathom Asoke
In Nakhon Pathom, the Pathom Asoke Community has established itself for 25 years as a sustainable Buddhist community. Chris, Erica and Claudia explored the everyday workings of Pathom Asoke by participating side by side with the residents.

Dhammananda's Temple
Home to Dhammananda, one of only two ordained Theravada Bhikkunis in Thailand, the temple is devoted to providing an environment for womens' spiritual empowerment and female ordination. Allison spent two weeks meditating, chanting and researching the lives of Buddhist nuns and female novices.

Muu Baan Dek
Along the River Kwai, Muu Baan Dek is an alternative school based on a combination of Summerhill and Buddhist principles. Sarah interacted with the 200 students, adults and teachers that make up the community.
