John W. Schroeder

I am a Professor of Philosophy at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, and I am currently teaching at the Asian University for Women, and will be here until 2015--but maybe more!

My research interests are Indian and Comparative Philosophy, Buddhist Philosophy, and South-East Asian Philosophy, and I teach courses on “Religion and Violence in Asia,” “Global Justice,” “Buddhist Philosophy,” “Asian Philosophy” and more...

I also lead regular study-tours to Thailand on Socially Engaged Buddhism to meet with various groups and leaders working on issues of poverty, development, gender, and the environment. You can glance at some of the photos from previous tours on the “Photo Albums” page below, and see the webpage for the tour here.
