Research in Professor Josh Grossman's laboratory takes place in four main programs:
- Laser cooling and trapping of neutral atoms
- Microtraps for fundamental studies and quantum computing
- High atom number in microtraps for sensor applications
- Quantum walks
- Quantum measurement

Undergraduate student research plays a central role in Professor Grossman's laboratory. Over a dozen students were recently or are currently part of the lab. The laboratory facilities include two diode lasers, an argon ion laser, a tunable dye laser, ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) equipment, and more.
