Tests and Grades: There will be five exams (worth 80% of your course grade, 16% each). One of the four exams will be the non-comprehensive final. Homework will be part of your grade (worth 20%). The homework will be collected at the beginning of class on the day it's due. Late homework will not be accepted. After it is collected some of the homework problems will be selected for the TA to grade. The exam problems will be the same or similar to those in the homework and the examples worked in class.

Dates for the exams:

F 9/17; F 10/8; F 10/29; M 11/22; Final: R 2:00-4:15 12/14.

Grading (roughly): 90-100% A,A-; 80-90% B+,B,B-; 70-80% C+,C,C;

60-70% D+,D,D-; 0-60% F;

Extra Credit: You can earn a 1% increase in your grade by attending and writing a one page report on one of the NSM Colloquium talks. This can be repeated up to three times for a total of 3% extra before calculating your final grade. Talks are for a general audience of science majors in the areas of Mathematics, Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The lectures are in Room 106SH every Wednesday at 4:40. A schedule of talks will be posted soon.

Review Sessions: Thursdays at 6-8pm in SH134. Background review and problem solving oriented toward (hardworking) lagging students.
